Richard Schnap- A Poem

RESURRECTING THE WORLD

These streets bear the names
Of invisible artists
That signed them on mail boxes
For the few who’d understand

And these streets carry the words
Of anonymous poets
That taped them to lamp posts
To make the lost feel less alone

And these streets heard the songs
Of shadowy musicians
That crooned them to hydrants
So that sleepers might awake

And if they speak of madness
Then madness let them be
But for the dead hearts they save
They are masterpieces all
