Richard Schnap- A Poem

MORTALITY

I have known death
To arrive in black leather
With a smear of lipstick
And a menthol cigarette

And I have known death
To arrive battle-scarred
With a golden voice
That electrified the night

And I have known death
To arrive with a hole
In the center of his heart
He eventually jumped into

And I will know death
The faceless horseman
Who will come to lead me
To the land of no return
